“Goin’ South” is a 1978 American Western comedy film directed by and starring Jack Nicholson.

The plot is set in the post-Civil War era and follows Henry Moon (Jack Nicholson), a small-time outlaw who is saved from hanging by a law that allows single women to marry condemned men to save them from execution.

Julia Tate (Mary Steenburgen), a prim and proper woman, marries Moon to use him for labor on her gold mine. The film combines elements of comedy, romance, and Western adventure as Moon tries to escape his new life while dealing with various challenges, including his old gang and the local sheriff.
